Should I use Linux, Windows, or both?

Overview

That depends on what you need. Because Linux is faster, more reliable, and gives you more control than Windows, it has gained acceptance among a growing number of computer users. Fewer programs have been written for Linux than for Windows; nevertheless, many Linux users are able to avoid Windows completely. The Netscape Navigator web browser and the Corel Word Perfect word processor (among other applications) are available for Linux, meaning that, in addition to the traditional technical applications, it can now be used for general use. A willingness to learn a few basic UNIX is needed, though Linux is becoming more user-friendly. A computer that runs both Windows and Linux is available. This system costs about $100 more than a computer that only runs Linux, however, it will allow you to use Windows applications while gaining familiarity with Linux at your own pace.
